Economic Independence

It’s still the economy, stupid

The economy was the dominating issue in last year’s elections. Short of a miraculously fast recovery that few would dare predict, the same political dynamic promises to persist in 2010.

At Economic Independence, we’ll examine the daily fluctuations and long-term trends in economic life as they pertain to the 2010 elections. The fiscal policy decisions we make now will determine our economic prosperity for decades to come.

So here, we’ll focus on the stock market, entrepreneurship, economic policy and legislation, the pace of economic decline in this recession, and yes, statistical analysis galore.

As we move forward, it’s important we don’t just stick with the tax cuts that got us here, but engage in the kind of fiscal stimulus needed to jolt this economy back to life. I recently described my political beliefs as far-left with strong sympathies toward libertarianism, and a strong belief in markets. But let’s not to pigeonhole me before the fun begins.

So keep those money minds primed, and get ready to talk about how to get this economy moving.
