Bethlehem mayor ponders Dent challenge
Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan has approached state Democratic Party leaders about running next fall against Congressman Charlie Dent (R-15), currently serving in his third term, The Morning Call reports.
Callahan said in March that he would not run for the seat, and has twice before turned down challenging Dent.
”He is seriously contemplating a bid,” state Democratic Committee Executive Director Mary Isenhour said.

Best news yet. Dent has finally taken off the “moderate” mask and has become a predictable “no” vote for the historically unpopular House Republicans – a sheepish accessory to the embarassing public temper tantrums that have come to define their “contribution” to governance. That’s fine. The Lehigh Valley elected Obama by a 10-point margin, and will be glad to send the popular mayor to contribute meaningfully to the policy debate. We would prefer a rep who actually seems interested in the business of governing, rather than politicking.
