More good econ. press for Onorato leading up to G20
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato can add one more national press clipping to his collection of stories about Pittsburgh’s econimic revival.
A new Newsweek story offers up lesson for Detroit from Pittsburgh’s success.
“By most measures—unemployment and foreclosure rates, to name two—Pittsburgh is an island of calm in the raging recession,” writes Howard Fineman.
These stories usually don’t mention Onorato by name. His opponents would try and take that away from him, but I think it’s just because the notion of a county executive in a big city is somewhat foreign to people on a national level (I live in Philadelphia and it’s foreign to me).
Anyway, things like this, especially leading up the G20 summit in Pittsburgh in September, are going to make it difficult for Onorato’s gubernatorial rivals to campaign against him on economic issues. They’ll likely have to look for openings elsewhere.
Then again, it’s early.
