Killion may join crowded GOP field for Lt. Gov.
State Representative Tom Killion (R-Delaware) is considering a run for Lieutenant Governor, and may form an exploratory committee for the race as early as next week.
In an interview with pa2010.com on Thursday, Killion said his long experience in local and state government would be a benefit to the Republican ticket as the party looks to recapture the Governor’s Mansion.
“I’m looking to maybe next week put together an exploratory committee and take a peek at it,” he said. “I think I would add somthing to the ticket.”
Numerous Repblicans are eyeing the race, but Killion declined to speculate on what political challenges the crowded field would present. If he forms a committee next week, he would appear to be the first current state lawmaker to do so, although other Republicans in the state House are said to be looking at the race, too.
“If I decide to announce and go forward, I’ll run on my record and they’ll run on theirs,” he said.
Killion has represented the 168th Legislative District, which includes parts of Delaware and Chester counties, since 2003. He is currently the state House Minority Deputy Whip, and chaired Delaware County Council in the 1990s. He is also a founding partner of a pension advisory firm and worked on former Congressman Curt Weldon’s campaigns for years.
Killion had been rumored to be considering a run for the 7th District Congressional seat being vacated by Democrat Joe Sestak, who unseated Weldon in 2006, but he said Thursday that he’s “not at all” interested in that race.
“I’m going to back [former U.S. Attorney] Pat Meehan 100 percent,” Killion said. “He’s a great candidate.
“I think as a member of the state House,” Killion added, “I could help the administration in dealing with the legislature.”

He could be interesting. A business owner who has created jobs, and not another professional politician, is exactly what this Commonwealth and country needs in positions of influence.
