Lentz will make formal announcement for Sestak’s seat soon

FOLSOM—State Representative Bryan Lentz (D-Delaware), already building a campaign to succeed Congressman Joe Sestak in the 7th District, will be formally announcing his candidacy at some point over the next month, Lentz told pa2010.com.

Standing outside the VFW hall here where Sestak announced his Senate candidacy Tuesday, Lentz acknowledged that the seat, which Sestak was the first Democrat to hold in decades, will be difficult to defend. But he said he was on the right track.

“I feel good,” he said. “I’ll do something formal in the next month or so.”

Republicans still outnumber Democrats in the district, though a significant number of independents can swing the election. It is expected to be one of the most competitive House races in Pennsylvania, and one of the more closely-watched races nationally.

“It’s a tough district,” Lentz said. “But I’d rather not get into prognosticating about it right now.”

State Representative Greg Vitali (D-Delaware) is also considering the race.

I wish Rep Lentz well on this journey.
He is a hardworking, intelligent, caring public servant. I believe that the voters of the 7th District will support him as they get to know his sensible policy positions and tremendous work ethic.

Too bad I don’t live in Bryan’s district. He’d get my vote.
