Roggio decides against Congressional run in PA-6
Bob Roggio will not be running for Congress.
Roggio, a Democrat who narrowly lost to Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-6) last year, said earlier this week that he hadn’t “ruled out” another go-round. But he told pa2010.com Friday that he had decided not to launch another campaign.
“It is primarily a personal decision,” Roggio said in a brief interview. “You really have to have a strong committment to do this, and the sacrifices you make for you and your family are hard to understand. I just wans’t ready to do that for the next 14 months.”
Roggio reiterated that he’s confident Democrats can capture the seat without his candidacy, and that he would do whatever it takes to help make that happen. His decision makes it increasingly likely that Doug Pike will have the primary field to himself.
With Gerlach running for governor, Republicans Curt Schroder and Ryan Costello are vying for the GOP nomination to succeed him.

Good to see Bob make a sensible decision about this race. He fought hard last year. The field in PA-6 is now looking much clearer. And as was said it appears the democratic candidate will be Doug Pike.

i bet andy is going to jump in. roggio was recruited last cycle by dan wofford, who is in the dinniman camp. if dinniman runs, this seat is his.
doug pike is a pansy with money. insider republicans want pike to be the democrat candidate for countless reasons. i love how the morons in DC rallied around Pike and now they are stuck with him.

I still wouldn’t count on this primary being a clear field for Pike. With it being an open seat now and Democrats having a slight advantage, other more qualified candidates are sure to jump in the water.
