Shuster backs Gerlach for governor

Congressman Bill Shuster (R-9) endorsed Jim Gerlach for governor Thursday, becoming the third of Gerlach’s current and former House colleagues to throw his weight behind the 6th District Congressman’s campaign.

“Having worked closely with Jim during our time in Congress I know that he has the work ethic, experience and guiding principles that resonate with the citizens of central and western Pennsylvania,” Shuster said in a statement. “Jim is a results-oriented legislator who is always looking for ways to create opportunities and a better life for Pennsylvania’s working families.”

Gerlach, who only recently declared his candidacy for the GOP’s nomination, has also been endorsed by Congressman Todd Platts (R-19) and former Congressman Phil English. Gerlach is running against state Attorney General Tom Corbett.

“The kind of dedication Jim brings to the table is exactly what we need right now in Harrisburg,” Shuster said. “Jim won’t stop fighting to make our state a better place to live and do business.”
