Dispatches from the Specter fundraiser

These come in from our correspondent on the scene and from loyal readers.

-Former Rendell press secretary Chuck Ardo was signing guests in. I found that interesting.

-6th District opponents Doug Pike and Manan Trivedi are both there.

-Michael Smerconish is the opening act.

More coverage to come.

what types of free beers and snacks are there? I wasnt able to make it, or I would have went. Is it an all you can drink bar?

Limited two drinks per go around and there were signs suggesting they could cut you off, but, if you tipped your bartender, you could go up all night, I suppose.

Dutiful correspondents wouldn’t think of it, though.

    Beer, wine, and soda.
It was a two-drink limit “per-transaction”. Which means, come back 5 minutes later or go to the identical station at the other end of the room. :-)

Snacks were cheeses, crackers, mustard/dipping sauces, grapes, and maybe a few other things.
Also, waits-people (is that the PS term?) were going around with trays of various finger food.

The food was good quality, and didn’t run out, but it also didn’t break the bank. The open bar cost a lot more than the food.

Smerconish was an interesting choice. Though he’s been pretty conservative over the years, he really broke ranks last year with his support for Obama. Smerconish is probably representative of a lot of Specter’s moderate base and the conservatives fed up with the extreme right-wing.
