Pike gives campaign another $110K, almost matching other contributors

Democrat Doug Pike continued to personally bankroll a significant portion of his Congressional campaign during the third quarter, kicking in another $110,000, according to campaign finance data.

Pike, who is running in the 6th District, has now given his campaign more than $620,000, including in-kind donations for expenses covered. Unlike the second quarter, he raised more from other contributors than he donated to the campaign himself, taking in more than $125,000 from individuals and political action committees.

But the total raised from outside contributors actually decreased from last quarter, when he raised more than $150,000 from individuals and committees, according to campaign finance data. Though it remains relatively early in the election cycle, that drop could indicate that the wealthy former Inquirer writer will continue to bear the financial brunt of his bid to succeed incumbent Congressman Jim Gerlach.

Pike finished the quarter with about $745,000 in cash on hand.

He faces Manan Trivedi in next year’s primary. Trivedi’s third quarter report had not yet been published online late Thursday afternoon, but his campaign said earlier this month that it had raised $110,000 in three weeks after he got into the race.

If only Pike could put that money into cloning research and clone enough copies of himself to vote. :-)

Interesting that most of Pike’s contributions come from out of state and most of the contributions from inside Pennsylvania come from the City of Philadelphia, not the 6th District. This, on top of the fact that Pike recently moved to the 6th district and lists his residence in the 6th as an apartment makes one wonder . . . .
