Schroder has about $87K on hand

State Representative Curt Schroder’s (R-Chester) Congressional campaign raised just under $88,000 during the third quarter, finishing the period with almost $87,000 in cash on hand, according to new campaign finance data.

Schroder, who faces a competitive GOP primary in the 6th District, spent lightly during the quarter, shelling out about $16,000, mostly on Web site design, branding and consulting.

With opponent Steven Welch loaning his own campaign half-a-million dollars, Schroder’s third-quarter numbers underscored the fundraising challenge he faces going forward. Chester County Recorder of Deeds Ryan Costello is also running, but his campaign finance report had not yet been published online Tuesday afternoon.

That’s just not going to get the job done.

Actually, he raised over $100k, mostly in the last 30 days, primarily from small to medium sized donors representing actual voters in the district he aspires to represent.

That seems pretty great to me.

If “getting the job done” means having to loan yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars, or having juice with national political action committees, then we may as well stop voting, and just auction these things off.

Lemme get this straigh, Me Wonders:

Schroder outraises Welch, and you think Welch is ready to go? Do I misunderstand? Do you mean “ready to go” as in “may as well pack it in?”

I notice that Curt raised alot of PAC money. What’s that all about? He also seemed to raise money from his fellow legislators. Taken in conjunction with the fact that it was raised over 2 quarters, I cannot say I’m that impressed. Man-of-the-people pads his take with contributions from dysfunctional Harrisburg and PACs who need his support.

Keep in mind Welch is new at this. Curt’s been doing it forever. No one wants a career politician who has no shot of winning this seat in the general election.

By “getting the job done,” I am referring to the fact that the Philadelphia media market is the 4th most expensive in the country. That’s all. You need a TON of money to compete on the airwaves.

This would have been a good haul in Scranton or Erie, but it simply isn’t enough to compete in the Phila. area.

You operate in the system as it is, not the way you would like the system to be.
