Smith-Ribner not intimidated by high-profile race
Entering Pennsylvania’s Democratic Senate primary is about as close as one can get to a presidential run in 2010. All media and political eyes are watching. Millions of dollars are in play.
But Doris Smith-Ribner, a Democrat and a retired state judge, isn’t intimidated.
“I’m going to do what any candidate would do, whether it’s a high-profile race or a not-so-high-profile race,” Smith-Ribner, who has decided to enter the race, told pa2010.com Friday night. “I’m going to the voters, I’m going to talk about my service, talk about my background, do whatever it takes to convince voters that I’m the right candidate for this seat in 2010.
“I think that’s all you can do, is convince voters that you’re right for the seat,” she added.
She said she would be building a campaign team soon, and in a race that could easily cost upwards of $30 million total, she wouldn’t put a number on her fundraising projections, but said she would have enough.
“I will do whatever it takes to make this a very strong and viable campaign,” she said. “I expect to generate the resources that will be needed to win.”
