Toomey says he raised $1.5M in 3Q
Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey said Wednesday that his campaign brought in $1.5 million during the third quarter, giving the campaign $3.1 in total contributions during the cycle so far.
The campaign also said it had more than 20,000 contributors, a third more than Toomey’s total donor base during his 2004 Senate race.
Republican support has rallied behind Toomey in recent months as he has gradually become the presumptive GOP nominee.
“I am honored by the thousands of people who have contributed to my campaign,” Toomey said in a statement. “People all across Pennsylvania are rallying to our message of fiscal responsibility and political balance. They are concerned about the reckless bailouts, extreme policies, and out-of-control debt resulting from one-party control of Washington, and they believe that the country deserves better than that. Together, I believe we will win the fight for fiscal sanity, responsible government, and economic growth.”

Who could have predicted that a guy who devoted the last several years to running corporatist slates of primary challengers against moderate Republicans to calcify that Party’s near-religious fealty to the prerogatives of multinational corporations would, in turn, rake in truckloads of corporate cash? Toomey is corporatism personified. His continued commitment to Bush’s market fundamentalist agenda is undaunted, even after that regime was discredited by the collapse of the financial system. That is why corporate donors love him, and the rest of us should fear him.

jon greeting,
you complain about bush and toomey, but what are you, an obamamite? Obama is a low-life, pathetic racist that has given billions of MY tax dollars to unions, corporations, and political cronies. Luckily he missed out on hosting his olympics, otherwise billions more of our money would have been funneled into the pockets of his chicago thugs. How’s that hope and change working out for you, Jon? You probably back “Special Ed” Rendell too. Partisan hacks like you deserve nothing but spite. Tack Obama, Specter, Rendell, and move to New Jersey. You’ll love it there, they have failing schools, an anti-business climate, a massively corrupt democrat political machine and the highest taxes around. they may even get gay marriage soon, so you are your partner have to love that.
