Dinniman only does something if it benefits him. He is probably hoping Trivedi wins the primary and loses the general so that he can run in 2012 in a redrawn district. Doing so will allow him to work toward a third taxpayer funded pension.

I’ll reiterate that your point is a valid one, though obviously I don’t think the decision was an irresponsible one. As a niche political news Web site, the standard for publishing something like this is different than, say, your daily general interest newspaper. Political chatter is just part of what we cover here.

Credibility is everything to us, as our most loyal readers know. I’ll continue to keep your criticism in mind, as I do think it’s a valid one, even if I don’t agree with its end conclusion.

I can only ask that you’ll stay tuned.

I’ll leave it at that for now, so we can get back to discussing the substance of the story itself.

Dan, I appreciate your response. However, Sad is completely right about being irresponsible. Does your source have an interest in the outcome of this campaign and if so, aren’t you doing this person a favor by spreading their rumors?

Hey Rumors,

I understand your concern, and I think it’s well-founded. For what it’s worth, I stared at that sentence for about 20 minutes trying to decide whether or not to include it.

There are certain things I know off-record that I can’t report, but that can still inform the way I write and frame the facts. Rest assured I wouldn’t have included it if I didn’t think there was some real truth behind the rumors.

Dan, I appreciate your reporting but reporting vague rumors? Please just report the facts and not some supposed vague claims unless you can print some proof with concrete details.
