Voting against the champs

As if the World Series bets by elected officials weren’t enough, the House last week, naturally, took up a formal resolution congratulating the New York Yankees for their win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

But not every Philly-area lawmaker was willing to give props to the Bronx Bombers.

Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-13), who’s district includes northeast Philadelphia, voted against the resolution. A spokeswoman told The Hill that Schwartz is “a dedicated Phillies fan, and she’s just not over the loss.”

For the record, Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) voted for the measure.

“I’ll honor any champion—as long as its not the Mets,” Sestak said.

He’s missed so many votes, it’s a shame Sestak couldn’t miss this one.

Can Schwartz name 5 Phillies? Do you think this has something to do with her “Big” fundraisers in Clearwater every spring? C’mon, this woman couldn’t find Cottman & Frankford without a map. Don’t tell me she’s “pro-Philly” all the sudden……oh wait, she must have an election comming up.
