Pike endorsed by Mass. congresswoman; previously served her husband
Democrat Doug Pike was endorsed Thursday in the 6th Congressional District by a Massachusetts representative he hopes to join in Washington. Pike was formerly a special assistant to Congresswoman Niki Tsongas’ late husband, U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas.
In a campaign statement endorsing Pike, Tsongas said he had “demonstrated a deep commitment to public service.”
“As we work to recover from an economic crisis,” she said, “we need more allies in Congress like Doug who will work to create good jobs and be an advocate for our families. Doug’s unique perspective and experience and will bring tremendous value to the United States Congress, and I am pleased to support his candidacy.”
Pike, a former Inquirer editorial writer, faces Reading doctor Manan Trivedi in next year’s primary.
