Report: Argall to challenge Holden in 17th

After weeks of deliberation, state Senator Dave Argall (R-Schuylkill) is apparently ready to take on Congressman Tim Holden (D-17).

Argall will announce his candidacy next Monday evening, PoliticsPA reports, setting up yet another competitive House race in a state already full of them.

As a conservative Democrat, Holden has been close to unbeatable in recent years. But in Argall, Republicans hope they have found their most viable opponent against Holden, who was one of only two House Democrats in the state to vote against health care reform legislation late last year.
