How much political experience did you have when you ran for Congress? And more importantly, were you able to keep your spouse / partner interested in you during your campaign?

Second – How do you know her candidacy is going nowhere? She would make a VERY strong Independent candidate and the public has an appetite for that. So maybe she is just holding her powder.

Third – She is more qualified than most who are seeking public office. The idea that you must have held some low level political position, be a political appointee or a lawyer to run for office is rdiculous. She has been involved in the community for the past decade – more involved than Pat Meehan.

Finally – unless she is running in the primary – she doesn’t have to say where she stands on any issues. Pay Meehan hasn’t – he’s waiting to take the proper polls.

Mike, you should give up this blog. It is obvious why your Congressional candidacy went no where. You are WAY out of touch.

I don’t disagree that by Stensland staying on the fringe she is not helping her cause in running for the Seat.

I do disagree that political “experience” should be a prerequisite. What kind of “experience” is necessary? Kissing up to the right power brokers? Knowing the right lobbyists? Being an effective fund raiser? What do any of these things have to do with good government?

The founding fathers never intended government service to be a career, even if that is what it has evolved into. The people gain nothing in perpetuating this principle.

That being said, I do agree the time for coyness is over; she should either declare her candidacy or not. The longer she wavers, the weaker she looks.
