New York congressman endorses Sestak
Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) got a second House colleague to endorse his Senate bid Tuesday, and like the first, that support came from outside Pennsylvania.
Congressman Eric Massa (D-NY) backed Sestak at the end of a five-city tour across Pennsylvania, during which Sestak focused on veterans’ issues. Like Sestak, Massa is a former Navy officer.
“I served with Joe Sestak in the United States Navy and I know that he’s the real deal,” Massa said in a statement. “America needs leaders like Joe Sestak steering the ship if we’re going to get our economy back on track and create more good paying jobs across this nation. Because of his experience and leadership, I am wholeheartedly supporting Joe Sestak for Senate.”
Last year, Sestak was endorsed by Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.).

So Joe, who asked you who NY Congressman Eric Massa is standing behind?

Shame we can’t get Admiral Mullen to come out and explain why he fired Sestak, or the other men under his command who prompted it.

Mr. Diano: Quite a few to satisfy his megalomania. Rather disturbing image of the 7th District charlatan – he looks gaunt and haggard. The calamitous campaign, the abysmal poll numbers, the abrupt departure of pivotal staff, and of course, the various federal probes are clearly taking their toll.

You really have out done yourself this time pal.
You are against liberals, libertarians and conservatives, including pro-choice conservatives. And you want to claim to eb a tea party grass roots guy, but you hate the tea party people.
But most of all, you don’t get the Toomey Specter Shestak connection. And that is mind bogelling!!

I see. You are just another coward willing to mouth off, without risking any consequences or revealing your biases. You could be a Sestak staffer or a Toomey supporter or a Republican or a Democrat.
I disagree with my friend Bruce Bailey here on Sestak, but I don’t go after him. I don’t go after Lee Levan either.
Mancini-
Since when I am against liberals???
I’m against Sestak because he’s not really a liberal.
I don’t claim to be a Tea Party guy. The tea party people are a collection of dolts. I don’t consider them a real grassroots movement as they are being manipulated by big corporate interests. Please stop equating Tea Party and grassroots. Tea Party is AstroTurf not grassroots.
Sestak’s not fit to serve in public office. Toomey’s ideas are bad/dangerous. Specter’s the only sane one left. I’m not thrilled with him, but by definition, he’s no worst than the sitting Senator we already have.
There seem to be a lot of things you don’t get.

If all your looking for is a change, then why not support Toomey? Or Gerlack for that matter.
I’m not saying that conservatives are bad, so don’t be offended. I’m just saying that you seem to stand for nothing but against everything.
Your not thrilled with Specter, yet you carry his water on the pages of this blog. Your trying to make the case that Specter can beat Toomey because of Specters conservative tea party base. This makes no sense.
Just argue with more convincing-ness and avoid the ad homo attacks, and maybe you’ll get past politics talk 101.

Anon: Better a diatribe than the continuing canonization that Representative Sestak’s few remaining supporters engage in. These short-sighted, purblind individuals hold the belief that, simply by uttering the magic word (Shazam!), SUPERSESTAK can overcome a %24 deficit in the polls, the enormous fundraising advantage of his venerable opponent, the ongoing turmoil within his campaign, the abrupt departures of key staff members, etc. In their deluded view, SUPERSESTAK can triumph over the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the House Ethics Committee, the President of the United States – any foe! Unfortunately for these increasingly desperate, hapless people, Sestak is actaully a mere mortal – a mortal who has been utterly defeated in every way possible.

Today’s Acronym of the Day:
RICO – a reference to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, a U.S. federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization. Some of Sestak’s few remaining allies will undoubtedly become quite familiar with this acronym soon…

I’m not carrying Specter’s water. I’m p1ssing in Sestak’s. There’s a difference.

Sounds like the noose is tightening. The story may break VERY soon (24-48 hours). Depends how much research a certain ace reporter has to do to confirm the story.
BTW, in the Captain Marvel universe, there is also his evil opposite, a character named Black Adam (for his black heart). Black Adam also uses SHAZAM to transform into a super-powered being. In his case, he was an adult corrupted after he gained the power of Shazam.
That’s why the wizard picked Captain Marvel to come from an innocent (and brave) boy (Billy Batson) who was not corrupted by power.

Massa campaigns for and endorses Sestak one day and then steps away from a re-election campaign amid allegations of sexual harassment the next. Golden opportunity for Specter’s people here IF these allegations materialize before its time for them to start putting their attack ads on the air. For once some one may actually have something of substance, albeit small, to use against Sestak. A real change from the BS, unsubstantiated allegations that HateSestak and various other clowns on this site throw around.

TB – How on Earth does Massa’s problem have any blowback (no pun intended) on the Sestak campaign? To be sure, it was bad timing for Joe to get the backing of another Navy guy (Massa is a 20-year Naval vet) the day before this happened, but beyond that coincidence, where does this become “something of substance”?

You don’t think the Specter campaign could cut an ad with a message along the lines of, “Rep. Sestak’s friends in Washington came under fire for ethics violations. Can you trust a man with such friends to represent you in the United States Senate?” If the allegations are substantiated they could make the ad a little bit more racy. Have some creepy music playing in the background. Throw up a picture of Sestak with Massa on the campaign trail from earlier this week. BAM! You’ve got Sestak labeled as an ethics violator in the minds of voters through guilt by association.

Who’s creepier than George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld? Those were Arlen Specter’s friends — until he figured out he couldn’t win the Repub primary. Then he cozied up to the Dems and became our BFF. Cue the *really* creepy music for that one.

You’re talking, of course, about Specter and John Yoo, right? Specter and Cheney? Specter and torture?
From Glenn Greenwald, 2006, “Echoes of the Nixon Administration”:
“With one piece of legislation, Sen. Arlen Specter seeks to expand the Bush administration’s radical theory of executive power beyond the wildest dreams of Dick Cheney or even John Yoo. Just when it looked as though some semblance of checks and balances was being restored, Specter — the Pennsylvania Republican who masqueraded for months as a tenacious opponent of the White House — offers a bill that would strike an immeasurable blow for the Bush vision of an imperial presidency.”

Sestak’s Senate bid has become an unprecedented political fiasco – abysmal poll numbers, abrupt staff departures, the opposition of prominent Dems, unsubstantiated accusations against the incumbent Democratic President of the United States, and now, endorsements from alleged sexual predators! His campaign is now little more than a source of amusement among politicos.

Odd endorsement pattern evolving. If you will recall, the only other notable House member to endorse Sestak, Barney Frank, was the target of a 1990 investigation by the House Ethics Committee. This inquiry was prompted by the allegations of Steve Gobie, a male prostitute Frank befriended and housed. Frank publicly acknowledged that he had once paid Gobie for sexual intercourse, hired him with personal funds as an aide and wrote letters on congressional stationery on his behalf to Virginia state probation officials. Frank insisted, however, that he terminated Gobie when he learned that prostitution clients were visiting his apartment.
