The guy with a truck in the 13th

Philadelphia resident Brian Haughton is the Philly GOP’s endorsed candidate in the 13th Congressional District. This firefighter and small business owner of “SmokeEaters Pub,” a firefighting-themed bar and restaurant believes so much that he can win that he has gotten over 100 Democrats to switch parties so they can vote for him in the primary.

“I believe in duty and being there for people,” he says. “I also believe that people should be trusted to make their own decisions—not the government.”

Haughton’s climb is a diverse one that includes a B.A. from LaSalle University, a stint in the Air Force and now as the owner of the pub and restaurant, which has become a fixture in the firefighting and local community.

This Father Judge High School graduate is the first to say he is not a politician. But he is  also the first to say that duty and hard work are things he knows first-hand. He’s also been endorsed by the International Association of FireFighters Local 22.

Firefighters drive trucks. One other guy who drove a truck recently got elected  to Congress—against all odds—in the bluest of blue states. Maybe guys who drive trucks are electable.

I heard Brian give a talk at my local Rotary Club Tuesday, April 20th. at the Torresdale-Frankford Country Club. Please have someone call me so that I can get more of his handout cards. I want to leave several at the local Quaker City Yacht Club of which I am a social member. There are many police and firemen at this club and it would be a wise thing to do. Part time bartender Tommy Caskill, a fireman himself, works there Thursday nights. Either send someone there or give me the cards and I’ll tell Tommy who will then tell everybody in the membership about Brian Haughton.

I would be glad to help. Tired of the blow-hard incumbents in office, we need Brian. He’s a good person and his presentation at Rotary was clear and honest, and well done. Please forward this message to him? Thanks, Rotarian Paul Bogosian, DC (Chiropractor) Phone: 215-342-BACK(2225).
