Toomey leads Dems in another poll
Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey continues to enjoy advantages over both Democrats vying for the chance to face him in November, according to a new poll.
The Muhlenberg College survey released Monday found Toomey topping Senator Arlen Specter by seven points, 47 percent to 40 percent. Toomey leads Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) by 11 points, 33 percent to 22 percent. But 45 percent of voters say they’d back someone else or are undecided in that matchup, according to the poll.
The survey is mostly in line with numerous other public opinion polls that have been released in recent weeks. Almost all of them show Specter suffering from low approval ratings, and while Toomey is still largely unknown to voters, anti-Democratic sentiment is fueling his lead in the polls. While only seven percent of voters either haven’t heard of Specter or don’t have an opinion of him, 53 percent say the same thing about Toomey and 62 percent say so about Sestak.
Perhaps most critical going into the general election, Toomey is performing strong with independents, capturing them over Specter by a two-to-one margin.
In a sign that neither party is escaping the unrest in the electorate, voters are almost evenly split over which party they would back on a generic congressional ballot.
The survey of 402 likely voters, conducted March 29 to April 7, had a margin of error of five percent.

This is a worthless neocon, hatemonger, warmonger, racist, homophobe poll that has zero credibility. Daily Kos has a great poll that has Specter up 83% over Toomey. HuffPo has Specter up by 75%. The Weather Underground poll has Specter up 92%. No, who are you really going to believe?

Specter up 92% sounds like a worthless poll dave,too bad he didn’t make the debate last night he could defend both sides of any issue since that’s where he stands.Arlen is a totally useless Republican who can’t possibly win in November.

Dave when do you change your registration to Republican, I can’t imagine that any Democratic candidate in Delco or Pa. for that matter,that would even allow you to phone bank for them,let alone trust you to do anything else.

I do plenty for the other Dems in Delco and beyond. Often, a lot more than Sestak, especially around election and petition time when they need voter lists. Just last night I did a well received presentation at Montco Dem HQ for some of their Area leaders. Joe doesn’t help anybody but himself. One of people there even complained how the Sestak staffers are always calling for help, but never offer any.
I need my Dem registration to vote against Dem frauds like Sestak in the primaries and vote for someone like Specter who is capable of defeating Toomey. It may suck having Specter, but it’s way better than having a campaign fool like Sestak blow it in November.
After Joe gets his ass handed to him, and no longer poses a retaliation threat to the political careers of other Delco Dems, ask around and learn about the real Sestak and how many people despise him.

Yeah, that first comment is clearly fake. My money is on bill healy as the culprit – either that or he gets the award for Worst Reading Comprehension of the Day.
Anyway, these polls are pretty much meaningless and Mr. Toomey has said basically the same thing. It’s a long time until November and much of the public is not yet familiar with Mr. Toomey and his ultra-conservatism.
