Marino hopes to be discharged from hospital Thursday (Updated)

Former U.S. Attorney Tom Marino said Wednesday that he was “resting comfortably” in a northeast Pennsylvania hospital after a car accident Tuesday night, and that he hoped to head home Thursday.

“I appreciate the overwhelming outpouring of support and well wishes that our family has received from our community,” Marino said in a statement. My wife Edie and I feel so incredibly blessed and humbled to have such great support from our friends and neighbors. I would like to thank the first responders and medical staff for the excellent treatment I have received.  I am resting comfortably and hope to be discharged tomorrow.

“I am eager to get back on the campaign trail and thank everyone so very much for their thoughts and prayers,” Marino added. “As a father, I am very concerned for the young lady who was also involved in the accident and will keep her in my prayers.”

Marino won the three-way GOP primary last month to take on Congressman Chris Carney (D-10). Carney said in a statement Wednesday that “my thoughts are with Mr. Marino and his family. I am glad his injuries were not serious and I hope he makes a quick and full recovery.”

UPDATE: Marino was released from the hospital Thursday morning.
