  • Comedy night fun

    August 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Just wanted to share my take on this week’s Candidates Comedy Night—an event I’ve been writing about since 2002. I knew what to expect—basically anything and everything political peppered with laughter.

Being at Finnigan’s Wake is an experience in itself, with four levels of bars, and the most affable and personable owner, Mike Driscoll, who gives his business, time and name to help the Variety Club, a charity for kids. Daily

  • Republicans band together to raise cash

    June 22, 2010 at 12:13 pm

There’s some exciting news out of Washington that will surely benefit Republican candidates in Pennsylvania.

The Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee—along with their respective chairs—have announced a new joint fundraising agreement called “The Majority Trust 2010″ ahead of the midterm elections.

“The Majority Trust is proof that Republicans are not only united in our goal of winning back the majority, we are also mutually committed to…

  • ‘Barrell of a Gun’

    June 11, 2010 at 2:37 pm

The wait is over. The much talked about film concerning Mumia Abu-Jamal and his killing of Philadelphia police officer, Daniel Faulkner, “Barrel of a Gun” will have its gala premiere on Sept. 21 at 7pm at the Merriam Theater.

Philadelphia’s top filmmaker, Tigre Hill, spent the better part of four years unraveling the mystery behind the man, and what made him into the man he has become, and most importantly,…

  • The ‘open letter’ to Murphy

    June 1, 2010 at 8:50 am

It’s not that often that we flag a video for you here at Suburban Snapshot, but this one making the rounds on the blogosphere is a must-see. It was not made by any party or candidate, but rather was put together by an anonymous constituent in the 8th Congressional District.

There is a growing sentiment in the 8th District of discontent, fear, and anger. This video calls a spade a spade.

    Per the usual disclosure,…

  • An electoral Triple Crown

    May 18, 2010 at 11:22 am

Well folks, it’s the political tri-fecta today. What the Triple Crown in horseracing is (Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes), Tuesday will be in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Congress. The candidates have discussed, schmoozed, talked, talked, and talked some more. They’ve hugged babies, had tea with seniors, shared Guiness with constituents, and they were ready—ready to “go the distance” when the polls opened at 7 a.m.

    This is the…

  • GOP passion in MontCo

    May 12, 2010 at 6:00 am

Talk about Republican passion in Montgomery County! I recently attended an event for Tom Corbett sponsored by the Lower Gwynedd Republican Committee. This fundraiser, held at the William Penn Inn, was like the MontCo GOP events of yore. People came out in numbers, young and of all socioeconomic backgrounds—and talking about the party and the new excitement that has been brought into the mix by some Tea Party advocates.

Present and former GOP leaders were…
