The latest TV commercial from Congressman Chris Carney (D-10) touts his advocacy for tax incentives to keep manufacturing jobs in America.
The 30-second spot is Carney’s second of the campaign, and it started airing in the northeast Pennsylvania district late last month.
“Made in America,” Carney says in the ad. “It’s a source of pride and an engine of growth, but it hasn’t been happening enough.”
Sporting a big cash advantage against Republican Tom Marino,…

Marino wants more debates
Only one debate is planned between the candidates in the 10th Congressional District this year. And that’s got Republican Tom Marino pretty peeved.
Marino, a former U.S. Attorney, made his strongest plea for more debates this week, saying that Congressman Chris Carney (D-10) is trying to “hide his record from the people” of the northeast Pennsylvania district.
“Maybe he is afraid to defend the fact that he toes the liberal line and supports the reckless…

Marino says Social Security cuts needed; Carney pounces
Republican congressional candidate Tom Marino said Tuesday that some Americans will need to “step up and take the hit by saying no to Social Security”—drawing a swift and biting rebuke from his Democratic opponent and leading the GOP challenger to quickly retreat from the statement.
Marino made his comments during an extended radio interview that touched on a wide swath of policy issues. They came as Democrats have been eager to…

GOP pollsters see challengers leading in four Pa. races
Republican pollsters looking at four competitive House districts in Pennsylvania say the GOP challengers in those races are holding leads over Democratic incumbents—and sometimes big leads that come in spite of low name recognition for the Republicans.
Whit Ayres’ polling firm conducted the surveys on behalf of American Action Forum—part of the conservative group American Action Network led by former Senator Norm Coleman, among others. The results were first reported by…

Flush with cash, Carney hits the airwaves
Less than three months before Election Day, Congressman Chris Carney (D-10) is deploying his massive financial advantage on TV.
Carney, who’s seeking a third term in the northeast Pennsylvania district, began his first ad buy of the campaign this week. He faces former U.S. Attorney Tom Marino, in a race that Republicans had hoped would be competitive. But Carney finished June with more than 70 times the amount of campaign cash…

LEFTOVERS: Vets in the 10th, JoePa in the 11th, Tea Party (again) on the 7th
It was a day for veterans to speak out in the 10th Congressional District Tuesday.
First, incumbent Democrat Chris Carney rolled out his military-guy-supporters to speak out against Republican opponent Tom Marino. You might remember that Carney was peeved that Marino attacked him for not signing on to an anti-abortion bill while he was tending to his cancer-stricken wife, and then twisting the knife while Carney was on active duty and…

Carney: Marino is ‘bereft of human decency’
Congressman Chris Carney (D-10) called foul play on Republican challenger Tom Marino Monday, saying the former U.S. Attorney has been using dirty politics to misrepresent the incumbent’s stance on abortion.
Carney’s comments, during a conference call with reporters and a statement later, came after Marino criticized Carney—at times using a debunked claim— for not cosponsoring legislation that would reaffirm the policy of not allowing taxpayer funding for abortions. Carney said he…

FACT CHECK: Marino recycles debunked abortion attack
When the National Right to Life Committee opined that Pennsylvania’s new “high-risk” insurance pools could be used to cover almost any abortion, it set off a rash of Republican scorn that eventually forced the state’s insurance department to issue a statement assuring the new plans would keep taxpayer dollars away from non-elective abortions. At the same time, third-party fact-checkers on more than one occasion shot down GOP claims that the high-risk pools would use taxpayer…
