It was the last day of the FEC fundraising quarter on Wednesday, which meant the typical batch of last-minute pleas from candidates seeking cash.
The morning started with an e-mail from Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-13) on behalf of Manan Trivedi, the Democratic candidate in the 6th District. Schwartz had backed Trivedi’s opponent Doug Pike in the May primary, but now she was going to bat for Trivedi. “This district has been a challenge over these…

The proceeds will be split between Lentz’s campaign and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, though the exact nature of that split remains unclear. Some…

Critz lukewarm (at best) on Obama
With President Obama suffering from low approval ratings in the 12th Congressional District, Democrat Mark Critz seems decidedly coy about whether it wants—or even asked for—Obama’s support.
The president’s backing is, of course, assumed, as the head of the Democratic Party for which Critz is trying to hold the seat left open by the late John Murtha.
Nevertheless, when asked by The Hill whether the campaign had Obama’s endorsement, a campaign…

Sestak to Biden: Smack Specter ‘right square in the chops’
Back in 2008, then-vice presidential candidate Joe Biden had a warning about the kind of “Swiftboat” attacks that helped derail John Kerry’s presidential hopes. “Swiftboating is not going to work this time, and the reason it’s not is, number one, I’m going to smack ‘em right square in the chops,” Biden said at the time.
Now, Democrat Joe Sestak wants Biden to apply that same logic to Arlen Specter.
Sestak on Thursday wrote a letter…

Biden to stump for Callahan next month
It was the White House that helped convince Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan to run in the 15th Congressional District, and now it’s pitching in for the effort.
Vice President Joe Biden will come to the district April 15 to campaign for Callahan’s bid against incumbent Republican Charlie Dent, Callahan’s campaign announced Wednesday.
“I am honored to have the support of Vice President Biden here in the Lehigh Valley,” Callahan said in a statement. “The Vice…

Biden: ‘We need Arlen’
Vice President Joe Biden continued to stump for Senator Arlen Specter Monday night, crediting with helping to avert a second Great Depression and imploring Pennsylvania voters to send the Republican-turned-Democrat back to Washington for another term.
“The fact of the matter is we would not be about to even begin the kind of recovery that we are about [to begin], that we want, were it not for the fact that Arlen Specter put his career…

Coming on the heels of his recent appearance in Bucks County and President Obama’s showing in Philadelphia last month, the schedule shows the administration’s continuing commitment to Specter’s campaign.

Biden reportedly set to headline Specter fundraiser next month
Continuing the Obama administration’s political support of Senator Arlen Specter, Vice President Joe Biden will be in Pittsburgh Oct. 19 to tee of a fundraiser for Specter’s reelection, The Morning Call reports.
